Phonons in Intrinsic Josephson Systems with Parallel Magnetic Field
نویسنده
چکیده
Subgap resonances in the I-V curves of layered superconductors are explained by the coupling between Josephson oscillations and phonons with dispersion in c-direction. In the presence of a magnetic field applied parallel to the layers additional structures due to fluxon motion appear. Their coupling with phonons is investigated theoretically and a shift of the phonon resonances in strong magnetic fields is predicted. PACS: 74.50.+r, 74.60.Ge,

Microscopic theory of the coupling of intrinsic Josephson oscillations and phonons
A microscopic theory for the coupling of intrinsic Josephson oscillations and dispersive phonon branches in layered superconductors is developed. Thereby the effect of phonons on the electronic c-axis transport enters through an effective longitudinal dielectric function. This coupling provides an explanation of recently observed subgap resonances in the Idc-Vdc-curve of anisotropic cuprate sup...
متن کاملInterpretation of a microwave induced current step in a single intrinsic Josephson junction on a Bi - 2223 thin film
Thin stacks consisting of a single intrinsic Josephson junction on (Bi,Pb)-Sr-Ca-Cu-O thin films are investigated under the influence of external microwave fields. The I-V-characteristic shows a single resistive branch, a clear superconducting gap edge structure and a pronounced current step in external microwave fields. With increasing irradiation power it shifts to higher voltages, while the ...

Modulation of the critical current across layers, I c (H), of stacked Josephson junctions (SJJs) as a function of an applied magnetic field parallel to the junction planes is studied theoretically and experimentally for different junction lengths and coupling parameters. It is shown that the I c (H) patterns of long SJJs are very complicated without periodicity in H. This is due to interaction ...
متن کاملAnomalous Fluxon Properties of Layered Superconductors
Highly anisotropic layered superconductors can be considered as stacks of Josephson junctions (SJJ’s) [1, 2]. The key feature of SJJ’s is mutual coupling of junctions, which can be achieved via magnetic [3, 4], charging [5, 6] or nonequilibrium [7] coupling mechanisms. Properties of SJJ’s can be qualitatively different from that of single Josephson junctions (JJ’s) or anisotropic type-II superc...
متن کاملReflectivity and microwave absorption in crystals with alternating intrinsic Josephson junctions.
We compute the frequency and magnetic field dependencies of the reflectivity R(omega) in layered superconductors with two alternating intrinsic Josephson junctions with different critical current densities and quasiparticle conductivities for the electric field polarized along the c axis. The parameter alpha describing the electronic compressibility of the layers and the charge coupling of neig...
